Sedge Cowl

We have long been enthralled with Fiberstory's owner Sarah's stunning color sense. Her skeins have a complexity that is rarely seen in the hand-dyed realm. The colors have a depth and intensity, but remain subtle and soft. It's easy to see yourself cocooned in her colors without feeling too bright and bold.

Each time we receive a new delivery of Fiberstory Fave Sock, we all want to drop what we're knitting and dive into all the gorgeous color! We wanted to have something special to kick off knitting season, so we decided it was time to make our custom color dreams a reality!

Inspired by cool jewel tones like jade, amatrine and laborodite, we asked Sarah to give us two options for our custom color in Fave Sock. She worked her magic and sent them along. We were thrilled with both and immediately started swatching and thinking up new projects, all the while debating, "Which one do we keep?".

In the end, we took the advice of a wise friend, who always says of yarn shopping, "Narrow it down to two, and then get both!". We like her style and decided to do just that.

We are so happy that we did, because now we get to share our twin Loop colorways, Fern + Foxglove!

Fern, shown at left, is a soft, delightful color. If your wardrobe tends towards grays and neutrals but you want to add color, Fern is a beautiful way to start.

Foxglove blends subtle amethyst shades with tiny pops of turquoise. This complex color will appeal to purple and aqua lovers alike!

After much swatching, knitting and ripping, we decided that our colorways shined the brightest in our favorite stitch: stockinette. Knitting our Sedge Cowl on the bias keeps it from curling and shows the exciting movement of color across the fabric. You have the option of creating a seamless join using the kitchener stitch or seaming with mattress stitch.

Fave Sock is an especially soft superwash merino with fantastic drape. Sedge is just the right length to look pretty and chic worn in a single loop. It's also long enough to comfortably double when you need to bundle up!

With the Sedge Cowl, the knitting is easy! It will definitely help you get started checking off boxes on your holiday gift  list!
