In search of a fun knit with color, texture, and loads of visual interest? Say no more!
Our new Ripple Cowl pairs Noro Silk Garden with fluffy Woolfolk Tage to create an easy knitting and highly giftable cowl!
If you've never knit chevrons before, have no fear. They're easy to work, and once you get into the rhythm of their simple increases and decreases, they're kind of addictive!
Silk Garden + Tage = chef's kiss!
Silk Garden is one of Noro's most classic, most beloved yarns and has a proud cult following! It's a loosely spun blend of silk, mohair, and wool silk with a softer hand than most other Noro yarns. Its silk content also soaks up dye in an almost magical way, and as the yarn's vibrant color shifts in its slow, striping way, pops of silk gleam and shine.
Tage is an extra fluffy and buttery soft worsted weight blend of Woolfolk's trademarked Ultimate Merino + mohair that's ethereally light and lofty. Dyed in rich, solid neutrals, it does an outstanding job grounding all that riotous Noro color!
We designed this lightweight cowl with a simple, single loop to help keep you cozy without any bulk.
Alternating Tage and Silk Garden, every two rows beautifully frames the colors of each Noro stripe. And as lovely as simple stripes are, this cowl's chevron patterning elevates the color progression to gorgeous new heights!
To knit this cowl as shown, we suggest starting with a provisional cast-on and finishing with a Kitchener join to connect both ends seamlessly. If these two techniques aren't your cup of tea, no worries! Cast on normally and seam both ends together!
You'll need:
1 skein of Silk Garden
1 skein of Tage*
We knit our cowls with Silk Garden okazawi + Tage 20 and Silk Garden 208 + Tage 24.
The pattern is free with your yarn purchase (if you're shopping online, we'll email you the pattern when we post your order!) If you just want the pattern you can purchase it here.
*You'll have enough Tage to knit two cowls - why not pick up a second ball of Silk Garden and knit a thoughtful gift!
