It's the time of year for afternoon walks and trips to the playground, but it's not quite warm enough for your little one to enjoy the great outdoors without a little something warm and woolly!
Playtime, a stripe-tastic garter stitch cardigan by Lori Versaci, is an excellent option for lightweight layering and a fun way to play with color! We knit the body of our sample in Fibre Co. Amble and the colorwork yoke in Amble Mini skeins.
Amble's nature-inspired palette is full of depth, with lots of unexpected color options for baby garments and accessories. Its blend of merino, alpaca, and nylon is also consciously eco-friendly.
Each 355-yard skein of fingering weight Amble is comprised of 70% merino, 20% alpaca, and 10% nylon, which knits up into a machine washable, buttery-soft fabric that's perfect for next-to-skin wear.
What makes Amble different from everyday superwash yarn? For starters, it features recycled nylon for added, eco-conscious durability. It also achieves its superwash status by using a patented Easy-Wash method that's chlorine- and AOX-free to help make the yarn resiliently machine washable.
The resulting yarn is sumptuously soft and perfectly easy-care for baby (and you!), just pop your knits into a cold, gentle cycle and lay flat to dry.
The Playtime pattern gives options for both a solid sweater + a version with a striped yoke. The striped pattern suggests 5 colors, but we chose 3 for our sample pattern. And the pattern is written for 4 sizes spanning 3-18 months.
