Bassenfell in Luma

Thinking about summer travel knits and your vacation wardrobe? We have the perfect project for you!

We're obsessed with this beautiful Bassenfell shawl in silky soft Luma, and we can't wait to put it in our warm weather knit rotation.

Luma is a unique, DK-weight blend of merino, organic cotton, linen, and silk. Its linen content gives it an easy-wearing drape, while the merino, cotton, and silk give it a buttery softness that wears like butter next to the skin. The silk also gives Luma knits a glimmery touch of satisfying shine.

The folks at Fibre Co. say Luma was inspired by the grassland climate, where a multi-layered approach to dressing is a way of life. So, true to form, Luma, knits up into fabrics that deliver a light layer of warmth but with an airiness that's also comfortable in warmer temperatures.

Bassenfell is an asymmetrical garter stitch shawl that's ideal for three-season wear, from spring through to fall!

It features columns of botanically-inspired cluster stitches that add visual texture and is worked from tip to tip with a tidy i-cord edging for a polished finish.

The pattern also comes with a handy video link that will help you master this shawl's longtail, provisional i-cord cast on.

You'll need:

  • 4 skeins of Luma - shown in chambray.
